Ito ang tugon ni PCGG Chair John Agbayani nang matanong ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez kung sang-ayon ba ito na tuluyan nang lusawin ang tanggapan sa gitna na rin ng isinusulong na rightsizing sa gobyerno.
Punto ni Rodriguez nagkakaroon kasi ng overlapping sa mandato ng PCGG lalo na pagdating sa paghahain ng kaso sa mga sangkot sa nakaw na yaman, na ginagawa rin ng Office of the Solicitor General, Ombudsman at DOJ.
Sagot ni Agbayani tuwing magpapalit ng administrasyon ay mayroong nagtutulak para sa pagbuwag ng PCGG.
Dagdag pa nito na maliban sa pangunahin mandato na i-recover ang umano’y ill-gotten wealth ng pamilya Marcos ay ginawaran din aniya sila ng kapangyarihan na imbestigahan at mag-prosecute ng graft and corruption cases upang tulungan ang Ombudsman.
Ngunit inamin din ng opisyal na hindi pa sila nakakapag hain ng anomang kaso na may kauganayan sa graft and corruption.
Dahil dito sinabi ni Rodriguez na ibigay na lamang sa ibang ahensya sa ilalim ng DOJ ang ang pag-recover sa ill-gotten wealth at ipaubaya na sa ombudsman at solicitor general ang paghahain naman ng kaso laban sa katiwalian.
“as for the first one, the recovery, whatever that’s not been recovered can certainly be given to an office in the department of justice. What I’m saying isa that let us be able to look, specially in this time when we are limited with our resources that we cannot be continuing to be spending and spending for many agencies of our government. That is why madame chair if the second role for the past four years there has been no case on graft and corruption and that is expected because the DOJ is there, and the ombudsman is there. And that is why madame chair I really believe that chairman Agbayani and the commissioners would take a second look on how the PCGG would be able to wind up already all its affairs.” Saad ni Rodriguez.
